Top Five Koreanovelas (Part 1 of 5)

Title: Full House
Jung Ji-hoon / Bi / Rain as Lee Young-jae (RAIN)
Song Hye-kyo as Han Ji-eun (SHK)
Kim Sung-soo as Yoo Min-hyuk (KSS)
Han Eun-jeong as Kang Hye-won (HEJ)

Synopsis:
The initial conflict comes when two friends of SHK sold her beautiful house w/o her knowledge to the actor played by Rain. SHK is incensed as she went home after a trip from China (where she also got to know Rain and KSS), and found out that her home has a new owner. Things got tangled up when Rain who apparently had secret feelings for HEJ (who have feelings for KSS, yeah love square syempre), was unable to profess his feelings for her and instead pretended to have feelings for SHK at a certain function.

Since Rain is a celebrity, he doesn’t want to tarnish his image and grudgingly offered SHK a contract marriage, to which SHK agreed to on the terms that she can get her house back after the duration of the contract.

To make things short, w/in the duration of the series, Rain would fall in love w/ SHK (and vice-versa), both hiding it for the most part. KSS also falls in love w/ SHK and HEJ also develops feelings for Rain. Of course at the end, Rain and KSS would both reveal their true feelings, and no one dies w/in the series, haha.

How I Came to Watch the Series: by pure accident! Dala lang ni Rissee nung natanong ako ng bagong series, it made it more enjoyable since I didn’t have any expectations (or even prior knowledge of the drama). Already watched it before GMA started airing it (w/c is a good move by the network, btw, tumaas talaga ratings nila).

What I Like About the Series: Sorry, if everyone is expecting that it’s Rain (the k-pop god), I initially liked the series because Song Hye Kyo is in it, haha. The chemistry between Rain and SHK is great, except for the kiss at the last episode, parang di ko na-feel yun, haha. The acting (especially the fighting) isn’t very bad either. Also features a cool Kim Seung Soo (did you see him in Stained Glass? BIG DIFFERENCE!). HEJ is also very convincing since I always get pissed whenever she enters the scene, hehe.

Very light for the most part of the series. It has a lot of funny moments (too many to count!), and very intense moments. A lot of bickering and nagging (sorry I love those plots in general). Also love the house (of course), tourist spot na nga yan sa Korea eh, hehehe. Great OST, the timing of the background music is superb. My favorite track is Chuh Eum Geu Ja Ri Eh by Lee Bo Ram.

What I Don’t Like About It: How parts of HEJ’s bra is always showing in her outfit (although I think it’s intended and they do show nice bras, hehe). Also didn’t like the premise that the friends of SHK scamming her and selling the house w/o her knowledge (not realistic for me).

There’s also a point when there’s too much shouting at the end when all that’s left is the actual love declaration, kinda dragged on around ep 13. And when they did get together, it was only in the last 20 minutes (maybe even less) of the series, w/c is a bit sad to think that they weren’t a true couple for the rest of the series (the kiss was also…nothing…it’s like pasting two mouths…seriously they could’ve done better hehe). And Rain becoming a pseudo-monk for a while? That really cracked me up!

Favorite Moment: Aside from the Three Bear Song (haha, NGs of Rain performing it is a must-see!), the scene when Rain and SHK fought because Rain stood up SHK in order to be w/ HEJ. When Rain said, “You mean nothing to me, understand?” (it was obvious he was surprised at what he said right after saying it), and SHK replied (so convincingly it tore my heart out), “Yes…I know…I mean nothing to you. So from now on, you’ll mean nothing to me.” Shux! Waaaahhhh, tapos sakto pasok pa nung favorite song ko…priceless!

Padagdag pa: When Rain prepared a surprise dinner for SHK but she intentionally didn’t show up…and then she saw all the preparations…sabay pasok na naman ng favorite song ko!!! Hehe
