butanding!

Spent a weekend in Oslob, Cebu with my officemates in March (I know, why the late post? Haha) to see the whale sharks spotted in the area. It was a rather spontaneous trip – we found out about the place while having lunch one day in January and then decided to book the flight on the same day since there’s a seat sale lol.

Swimming with the butandings was an exhilarating experience, I can still remember shouting with awe (in my head) whenever I go under water to look at them. Can’t imagine that I was able to see them up close and marvel at how huge yet subdued they are. There are a lot of contentions as regards this attraction in Oslob (since the butandings are being fed by the fishermen instead of being left to hunt on their own) so I hope the local government gets this sorted out.
